Fujitsu Stylistic V535 business tablet is ready for tough love

While most enterprise tablets and laptops require power and flexibility more than anything else, there are a range of use cases where survivability is just as important. For the amalgamation of these two concerns, Fujitsu is coming out with a handy business tablet that also exudes an air of ruggedness. The Stylistic V535 Mini Tablet has all the trappings of a powerful mobile device yet it has also been built to weather the elements and survive most accidental falls and bumps when working in the field.

The tablet has a dust and water proof rating of IP65, not exactly the highest in terms of water resistance, but enough to withstand the occasional splash. It claims to also survive a drop from 1.8 meters high. The screen is protected from scratches by Gorilla Glass but is still sensitive enough to be used with gloves on. It can also be used under a wider range of temperatures than your normal consumer tablet.

Unlike average rugged tablets with mediocre hardware, Fujitsu isn't skimping on the specs. The Stylistic V535 is powered by the latest 64-bit Intel Atom mobile processor and is helped by 4 GB of RAM. Internal storage supports configurations of up to 128 GB. The 8.3-inch IPS screen is no underdog either, with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. It does have Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS, but sadly no 3G/4G connectivity. Windows 8.1 Pro, or its embedded counterpart, runs on the machine.

Business use cases sometimes require more than just a simple tablet. For that purpose, this Fujitsu device can be customized with various attachments and accessories. For example, there is a Smart Shell that adds SmartCard reader into the mix. There is also a cradle that can accommodate an external display and a mouse, turning the tablet into a makeshift desktop.

The Fujitsu Stylistic V535 will be available this quarter in North American and EMEIA markets. Prices will depend on the market, model, and configuration options added.
