Hello, darlings. :-)
Recently, I spent a lovely evening with a couple of delicious friends, lounging about (for real - did you know that a "lounge bed" is an actual thing? My life just go so much better!) and playing footsie in our socks.
I know. I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. My life is so hard. ;-)
BUT it go me thinking: It's a funny thing, how women are "allowed" to have foot fetishes in ways that men "aren't".
You know: We can drop into a salon any day of the week to have our feet touched, pampered, carressed and, as long as we don't moan too obviously, nobody's the wiser that we're enjoying the treatment more than we "should be". We're are surrounded by a dizzying array of high heels just about everywhere we go - even if the more well-endowed among us can't necessarily find ones that fit without going on a serious search (True Confession: I love going along as a consultant when my small-footed sisters need new shoes for exactly the same reasons you like going shoe-shopping with your wives and girlfriends). We're even tacitly encouraged to adorn and enjoy our feet on a daily basis (who doesn't love a pretty new polish or a long, hot bath spent with the loofah and some peppermint footscrub?)
Sex Educator Midori has a term for women (and everyone else) who enjoys having their feet pampered and admired. She calls us "foot hedonists". I love this term. I love it so much, because it really puts the focus on the enjoyment we get from showing off our fancy feet & pretty polish, recieving touch & pleasure through our toes and soles, wearing stockings or spiffy socks, indulging in toe rings, ankle bracelets, and amazing, eye-catching shoes...
There's an unfortunate meme that's embeded in our culture, one where women and sexually receptive people are coded as "passive" in sexual encounters. We're anything but! (Case in point: What's a vagankle next to a real, live woman who moans when you carress her soles, whose toes curl in pleasure at your kiss? See what I mean?) Giving us a term like "foot hedonist" lets us recognize and claim our receptivity as well as our enthusiastic participation! A foot hedonist isn't just "putting up with" your foot fetish, she's actively encouraging and enjoying it. :-D
Just a little food for thought.
Cheers, darlings,
~ Tess.
