Peel him a grape? Patriots besties Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski had some fun with fruit at a photo shoot for FNV, a new campaign to promote fresh fruit and veggies by first lady ?Michelle Obama’s Partnership for a Healthier America.

Jules, Gronk and teammates Danny Amendola, Brandon LaFell, Devin McCourty, Chandler Jones, Dan Connolly and Rob Ninkovich joined other celebrity endorsers, including actresses Kristen Bell and Jessica Alba, WWE Superstar John Cena, musician Nick Jonas and Panthers QB Cam Newton in the campaign that aims to push healthy foods with the same fervor as “big consumer brands.”

“The days of hum-drum health messages and finger-wagging PSAs are over,” declared Andrew Nathan, of the partnership’s ad agency, Victors & Spoils.

Fruity fighting words …

Anyway, the Pats posed for the pics last week while they were in D.C. to be feted by Michelle’s hubby in the Rose Garden for being Super Bowl champs.

So obviously, you know who wasn’t there saying “Cheese!” with a bunch of kale: QB/QT Tom Brady, who skipped the White House hoedown due to a previously planned “family commitment.” But now ESPN reports that 12 was actually working out at Gillette Stadium last Thursday while the team was in Washington. Hmmm …

The following day, Brady was spotted in NYC checking out the new Apple Watch at an Apple store. Which isn’t to say that he didn’t somehow shoehorn a “family committment” in there somewhere, but it does give more credibility to the notion that there may have been another reason for Brady’s snub.

As we told you last week, Tommy was on hand for all three White House Super Bowl appearances during George W. Bush’s terms. And a source told us he may have been miffed at White House press secretary Josh Earnest taking a shot at his spinning skills after Brady’s Deflategate press conference.

Sooner or later someone is going to ask Brady about his whereabouts on that fateful day. Let’s just hope he’s gotten some PR pointers in the interim …
