UFC Fight Night 79 results: Dong Hyun Kim traps Dominic Waters early, pounds out TKO win in first

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

"Stun Gun" was too much for "Sho Nuff" at UFC Fight Night 79 earlier today (Sat., Nov. 28, 2015).

Dong Hyun Kim (21-3-1 1NC) walked through short-notice replacement, Dominic Waters (9-4), winning by technical knockout in the first round inside Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, South Korea. Waters was filling in for Jorge Masvidal, who got bumped up to the main event against Benson Henderson after Thiago Alves dropped out because of injury.

The official stoppage came at 3:11 of the opening round.

Kim, 34, used a hip throw to get Waters to the canvas early on in the first round, and from there he never let up. The No. 7-ranked UFC Welterweight quickly transitioned to a crucifix -- for which Waters had no answer for -- and wailed away with punches while maintaining control until referee Leon Roberts waved it off.

It's a solid win for the South Korean native, who should maintain his current spot in the 170-pound rankings. He has now won two straight and five out of his last six. Waters has now lost two in a row in UFC.
