Bellator 154: Josh Thomson injured, pulled from Michael Chandler fight on May 14

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Bellator 154 "Davis vs. King Mo" will take place May 14, 2016 at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. The light heavyweight main event between "Mr. Wonderful" Phil Davis and Muhammed Lawal will determine who fights Liam McGeary for the title as soon as he's fully recovered from injury and ready to go.

Injuries are wreaking havoc on this card in general. The terrible news about Jordan Parsons has already changed one fight on the main card, not to mention Parsons' entire life going forward, and now the co-main event is also in jeopardy.

A lightweight match between Josh Thomson and Michael Chandler with the winner becoming top contender for champ Will Brooks is now off the books, as Thomson has withdrawn from the fight due to an undisclosed injury.

A Bellator publicist confirmed to MMAmania that fight is off the card following an initial report by FloCombat, and that Michael Chandler will not be fighting a replacement opponent. Chandler will be moved to a different Bellator card altogether.

For the moment at least Bellator 154 feels like a card with a main event and a lot of questions, although some preliminary fights could obviously be moved up, so stay tuned for further developments.
