Kyra Batara knew going into her fight against Jenny Silverio that she had the edge on the ground.
And boy, was she right.
Before her fight with Silverio (4-2) at a Combate Americas event on Monday in Los Angeles, Batara (5-3) told MMAjunkie Radio her expertise on the mat would be no match for Silverio.
“I’m going to make my 105-pound self feel like I’m 150 pounds on the ground,” Batara said. “There’s no stopping me on the ground.”
On Monday, in a fight at LA Exchange that streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, Batara went to the ground and locked up a twister, one of the rarest submissions in the game.
But she added a little twist to the twister and dropped in a flurry of ground-and-pound while Silverio was tied up, leading referee Herb Dean to shut things down.
