This bizarre advert has appeared in today’s edition of the M.E.N and is leaving readers baffled.

The cryptic message was printed today in the classified section of the newspaper, having previously appeared in other Trinity Mirror titles in recent months.

It has appeared on page 43 and reads: “THE NAIL WILL BE KEPT IN BAG NUMBER 3.

“[And another bag will be knocked off the table by a clumsy cow].”

The advert, printed on a yellow background, has also appeared in the Southend Echo, the Western Mail and the Liverpool Echo in the past.

Some suggestions have been made the message has been placed in the newspaper by Derren Brown who is playing shows at The Lowry this week.

The psychological illusionist will be performing at the Salford theatre on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

However, Derren Brown has not made any comment regarding the strange advert.

The advert has also been posted on content sharing website Reddit, but users were also stumped.

The advert was booked by a mystery woman from London, who contacted the M.E.N.’s advertising team. And a similar advertisement is due to appear in tomorrow’s newspaper.

‘Mind control’ expert Derren has dazzled the nation with inexplicable feats - from apparently guessing the winning National Lottery numbers to a controversial stunt in which he appeared to play Russian roulette.

He has also given his name to a new ghost train ride at Thorpe Park in Surrey.

The illusionist, 45, has previous used the Manchester Evening News for his stunts. During his last show at The Lowry theatre, a large number of copies of the paper were ordered for the audience to read following his show.
