Teen actor Callum Harrison from Droylsden arrived on the Coronation Street cobbles just last week as troublemaking new character Clayton.

And he made soap history by killing our beloved Kylie Platt, played by Paula Lane.

His character Clayton turned up on the street causing trouble for her pal Gemma Winter, played by Dolly Rose Campbell, in the kebab shop.

And he stabbed Kylie when she waded in to help clutching her celebratory bottle of champagne.

Clayton arrived in Weatherfield with Macca, an old pal of Gemma from her old haunt The Dog and Gun.

Callum's debut scenes coincided with Callum’s 18th birthday and he celebrated by watching with his family and friends.

Recalling the moment he discovered he had landed the role, Callum said: “I was speechless. I was so excited because all my hard work had paid off.

“I’m a big fan of Coronation Street and so is my mum!”

Other Coronation Street favourites trained by David, who founded the famous Oldham Theatre Workshop, include Michael Le Vell and Alan Halsall, Tina O’Brien, Sally Ann Matthews and former Street star Suranne Jones, who won a BAFTA for her lead role in the gripping BBC domestic thriller Doctor Foster.

David, who cast Anne in the lead role of a pregnant teen in the kitchen sink drama A Taste of Honey at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre when she was just 15 before she was talent-spotted by Coronation Street bosses to play Deirdre Barlow, is thrilled to see another of his students walk the famous cobbles.

David, who also trained young actors Mark Beswick, Kyle Rowe and Laura Therese who star in the Sacha Baron Cohen movie Grimsby, said: “I am absolutely delighted because Callum is somebody who has worked so incredibly hard.

“He still comes to sessions and nothing changes him.

“He is lovely and unassuming.”
