After 1,532 episodes playing Jason Grimshaw, Ryan Thomas has left Coronation Street.

The 31-year-old is moving on after 16 years on the street, and shot his final scenes for the ITV soap on Thursday.

After hanging up his hard hat for the final time, Ryan was presented with gifts as cast and crew gathered on the cobbles to wish him farewell, as the video above shows.

Catherine Tyldesley, Connor McIntyre and Bruno Langley can all be seen as Ryan is described as 'irreplaceable' in the clip.

Ryan captioned the Instagram upload with a touching message, which read: "It's not the job I will miss it's the people, really going to miss @itvcorrie so much it's the best 16 years of my life."

The Eccles-born actor's character is expected to go out with a bang, as David Platt plots to frame him for Callum's murder.

His pal Bruno, who plays his on-screen brother Todd, took to Twitter to wish Ryan well on his last day on set.

Bruno said: “Good luck on the cobbles today! No tears you! I’ll see you later x”

While the 31-year-old was also surprised in the make-up room as he went to get his face touched up for the final time.

The Corrie hair and make-up team decorated his dressing room mirror with a ‘good luck Ryan’ message and colourful feather boa.

Under the image on Instagram, the TV hunk wrote the caption: “Going to miss my make-up girls more than anything.”

Ryan’s final scenes on the cobbles are due to air a few weeks’ time.
