Makeup artists who have worked with a long-line of famous faces including Michelle Keegan, David Beckham and Take That have launched a new academy to share their top tips and expertise.

Collete Casey and Tally Bookbinder have launched Pro Makeup Academy in Lydgate, Saddleworth together after working on many red carpet events, magazine and calendar shoots and awards ceremonies including the BAFTAs and the National Television Awards.

They have styled a who’s who’s who of soap stars, including Coronation Street favourites Catherine Tyldesley, Paula Lane, Georgia May Foote and Emmerdale actress Gemma Atkinson.

And now Collette, who did the makeup for former Corrie star Michelle’s wedding, and Tally, who spent two years on the road working as Manchester boyband Take That’s makeup artist, have opened Pro Makeup Academy together in Lydgate, Saddleworth, where they will host classes for the public including teen beauty, contouring, mature makeup and smoky eyes.

Collette said: “We have known each other for years and our styles are similar but this is our first studio together.”

Tally travelled the world with Take That stars Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen and became Gary’s makeup artist when the band split in 1996.

Walking a special red carpet to attend the launch of Pro Makeup Academy were Corrie stars Katie McGlynn, who plays Sinead Tinker, and Debbie Rush, who plays Anna Windass on the ITV1 soap.

Katie told us that she only has to spend five minutes in makeup to get Sinead’s understated look.

She said: “Sinead’s look is very different to mine.

“To play Sinead I wear a bit of blusher, a flick of eyeliner and Vaseline on my lips.

“I can spend between 20 minutes and 45 minutes getting my own makeup right and for a red carpet event I’ll ask a makeup artist to do my makeup for me.”

And her co-star Debbie said she was delighted for Collette and Tally.

She said: “I think it’s about time that they opened an academy together. I’ve worked with them at red carpet events and weddings and they are fabulous.”
