One of last summer’s biggest TV talking points, Love Island, returns to ITV2 next week - with a Manchester contestant among the boys.

A new group of singles will attempt to find love - or something that vaguely resembles it - while enjoying a lovely holiday to somewhere nice, full of flirting and gradual conflict.

This year’s Love Islanders will be in a race against time to couple up, as anyone that stays single will be in danger of leaving both the villa and missing out on a £50,000 cash prize. Romance, eh?

New features in the villa to look out for include an outdoor gym (two tickets to the gun show), a re-designed hideaway for couples to escape for some one-on-one time, and this series the public will have an even bigger hand in making and breaking the couples.

This year, the audience can use the brand new app to decide who goes and who stays, dismissing people's hopes and dreams at the idle swipe of a thumb.

One of those singles is Manchester-based promoter and entrepreneur Scott Thomas. Scott, 27, is the brother of Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas and Emmerdale's Adam Thomas. He's been single for six years.

He describes himself as 'crazy, misunderstood, deep' and says he has 'a lot of bravado', but a secret sensitive side. He had his heart broken when he was 21 and has never really recovered (ahhhh).

He 'partied through the heartbreak' though, the absolute soldier, and now he's ready for a free holiday love.

His celebrity crush is 'Rachel McAdams in The Notebook. I love that film.' Hmm. He reckons his perfect Love Island date would be jet skiing then 'some food and a bit of wine to loosen things up'.

Turn offs? 'I don't like girls who go for money and status. In the line of work I do, I do see a lot of girls who just go for one Premiership footballer after another. I see through that.

'Some of those girls just buzz off that whole lifestyle. They try it on with me as well because they want the best VIP table and all of that.'

Yeah, sack that Scott. Make them stand up.

Speaking about his TV brothers, Scott says: 'They support me, but I want to do this on my own. I've been brought up with it so I'm prepared in a way, but it's my turn now. It doesn't scare me, that side of things.'

Famous last words.

Love Island starts Monday 30th May at 9pm on ITV2.
