It was a very Merry night at the launch of new Deansgate bar Red Door - as Coronation Street star Tisha Merry celebrated her birthday with a bevy of her co-stars.

Glamorous Tisha was joined by soap pals including Katie McGlynn, Sair Khan, Bruno Langley, Oliver Farnworth and Dean Fagan at the VIP opening of the hip new subterranean cocktail bar.

And as well as a special chocolate birthday cake delivered to Tisha by bar staff, the Corrie favourites got to sample one of the venue's signature cocktails - a giant sharing beverage served in a hollowed out discoball.

Tisha, who plays Corrie's feisty Steph Britton, was toasting her 23rd birthday and looking suitably stylish in a cropped white floral top and Capri pants for the occasion.

The bar is the latest launch from the Living Ventures group, and had been a special project for boss Tim Bacon in heading back to the site of his very first bar in Manchester, at what was JW Johnsons in the 1990s.

So it was a suitably poignant night for Manchester's movers and shakers who are still mourning the loss of entrepreneur Tim in April after his brave battle with cancer.

Invitations to the VIP bash had come in a mini record sleeve, with Tim's favourite songs listed on the back, and many played on the night by a live band performing on the venue's stage area.

Corrie star Antony Cotton paid his own tribute to Tim on the night, posting on his Twitter page: "Raising a glass to Tim Bacon at the opening of @reddoormcr."

There are plans for live music at the venue throughout the week, and the decor celebrates Manchester's rich history of music with classic photos, gig posters and album artworks adorning the walls.

Fittingly, a host of the city's music industry legends also headed along to the bash, including ex-New Order star Peter Hook who DJed for guests, Happy Mondays star Rowetta, The Smiths drummer Mike Joyce and Salford Jets rocker Mike Sweeney.

Former X Factor star Ray Quinn also joined VIPs at the bash, and he was enjoying letting his hair down - after being on a very strict health regime over the past fortnight.

Ray had just finished shooting images for his new calendar with celebrity stylist Matt Moxham in Castlefield and confided that he's been off the booze to ensure he is in the best shape ever for the images.

With the shoot now complete there were no such worries for muscular Ray, who was showing off his new edgy image in ripped jeans and striped shirt as he enjoyed the new bar with pals.
