A grandmother has captured the hearts of internet users everywhere after her grandson shared her adorable interaction with Google.

Ben John, from Wigan , was bowled over when he opened 85-year-old May Ashworth’s laptop screen to discover her latest search.

The pensioner had very politely asked the search engine a question – even adding “please” and “thank you” at the beginning and end.

It read: “Please translate these roman numerals mcmxcviii thank you.”

Teaching assistant Ben, 25, said he asked his nan about how she used the world’s number one search engine... and she thought it was the “norm”.

Share her manners with the world

He thought his nan’s manners were that brilliant, he decided to share it with the world and took a photo of the laptop screen and posted it on Twitter.

The tweet said: “Omg opened my Nan’s laptop and when she’s googled something she’s put ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. I can’t’" and ended with crying emojis.

So far, Ben has more than 7,500 retweets and 11,300 likes.

Van Badham tweeted: “@Push10Ben @AmyRemeikis I LOVE HER.”

Lauren replied: “@Push10Ben @TheMichaelMoran One of the most British things I’ve ever seen. Bless her.”

Adoration from all corners

Even the Lancashire Hotpots got involved in the conversation.

A few days after the original post on June 9 Ben tweeted Google saying he thought his nan definitely deserved a “You’re welcome” for her exceedingly good manners.

Finally, on Wednesday, Ben and his nan finally got a response.

Google tweeted back saying: “Dearest Ben’s Nan. Hope you’re well. In a world of billions of Searches, yours made us smile. Oh, and it’s 1998. Thank YOU @Push10Ben.”
