This is the moment a woman is pushed to the ground by a policeman as officers arrest a teenager in Oldham.

Video footage shows a number of people gathering around two officers as they detain a man on a patch of grass in front of properties at Watergate Milne Court in Waterhead.

The group – including several youngsters – can be heard screaming as the video begins, while a man is captured already on the floor being arrested.

As the clip continues more officers come into shot, while onlookers shout at them to ‘get off him’.

Then, as the policemen attempt to take the man – who has now been handcuffed – away, a woman is also then filmed being handcuffed on the ground.

As the footage continues another woman runs towards the officers and appears to try and intervene, before she is pushed away and down to the ground by one of the policemen.

She screams that she has been ‘assaulted’ and is heard saying she will get the officer ‘on every charge’.

The recording ends after more officers arrive and cart the other woman, who has been arrested and handcuffed, away.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has now been called in to investigate the incident, which took place shortly after 6am on Thursday, July 7, after being contacted by a member of the public.

The video has also been viewed more than 100,000 times after being widely shared after it was posted publicly on Facebook.

In a statement released shortly after the incident, a spokesperson for GMP said: “Police were called to Watergate Milne Court to a report of an assault. Officers attended and a 16-year-old-girl was arrested.

“A 39-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were also arrested at the scene on suspicion of obstructing police.

“The matter has been referred by a third party to the IPCC to investigate the circumstances surrounding the arrests and, as such, it is not appropriate to comment further at this stage.”

Yesterday (Tuesday, July 12), police confirmed that the man and 16-year-old girl had been released on bail.
