This is the scene of devastation after a car smashed through the front of a shop window.

Thankfully customers and staff escaped serious injury.

One man, a customer stood inside at the time, suffered a cut to his leg and head and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The car involved, a silver Vauxhall Astra, ploughed into the front of E & A Tailors on Woodfield Road in Altrincham , Trafford, at around 6.30pm on Friday.

The car ended up embedded in the shop’s front room, which has seats and is used as a waiting room.

Iwona Grajek, the daughter of the store’s owner, said two customers and two members of staff, both tailors, were inside at the time.

She said she believes the incident is being treated as an accident. No arrests have been made, police have confirmed.

Ms Grajek said: “Everyone is okay. If someone had been sat in front of the window they would have been under the car. Thank God no one was there in the sitting room.

“One of the customers’ legs was bleeding quite heavily and he hit his head. It was all such a shock.

“My mum is the owner and she told me that a guy in a car just smashed all the front of the shop to pieces. The whole car basically came into the shop but the driver was fine. No one really knows what happened.

“The driver was in shock and he was talking to the police.”

The owners are currently waiting for their insurers before opening again.

Ms Grajek said: “We cannot open the shop until the insurance company come then we will figure out what we do next. People can take things that they need altered somewhere else. We cannot do any work at the minute.

“We hope to open again as soon as possible.”

The shop is currently boarded up and secure. Greater Manchester Police’s traffic unit posted details of the crash and the photograph on Twitter.

They said in a post: “RTC, car v shop @GMPAltrincham. Minor injuries... to the ppl in the shop.”

Police said there were no arrests and only minor injuries.
