A ninth man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Abdul Hafidah in Moss Side.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old man on Friday on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody while officers carry out further enquiries.

So far, eight other people - seven men and one 17-year-old boy - have been arrested in connection with the investigation.

All have since been bailed.

Officers were called to Moss Lane East on May 12 after Abdul was stabbed at around at about 5.15pm.

It is believed the 18-year-old was chased near to Greenheys Lane in Moss Side by a group of men before being involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa on Moss Lane East.

The car was later recovered from a road off Athol Road in Whalley Range.

Mr Abdul was taken to hospital with stab wounds to the neck and abdominal injuries, but died two days later

Detective Sergeant Wes Knights said: “This is now our ninth arrest and we will continue to progress this investigation and carry on with our enquiries.

“I would ask anyone who might have been in the area at the time of Abdul’s murder to come forward. Every bit of information could help us give his family answers.

“We have set up a dedicated link for any footage to be sent to via Dropbox, or alternatively any footage can be passed to the investigation team by coming into your local police station.”
