Two lanes of the M60 are shut following what's believed to be a head on collision near Carrington.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

Highways England tweeted to say that one lane is open past the collision, but traffic is reportedly at a standstill.

The tweet said: "A lane is open past collision on the #M60 anti-clock btwn J9 and J8 #Carrington . 2 lanes closed while emergency services work at the scene."

Three people with minor injuries

A spokesman for the North West Ambulance service confirmed two crews have been sent to the scene.

They received the call at 6.44pm. It’s understood three people have suffered minor injuries and another had a head injury, but there are no further details on the severity of this injury.
