He remains in a stable condition in hospital.

Following the attack - which is said to be linked to an 18-month feud between rival gangs in the area - a 21-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has now been bailed until July 21st.

GMP believe the violence is linked to a long-running gang rivalry, which has seen 10 shootings take place in the Salford district which borders Bolton.

The incident is the most serious in the area since the attempted murder of Darren Wiliams, 34, who was shot three times on his doorstep in Coniston Avenue in October.

A silver Peugeot seen in the area at the time of the shooting at 9.25pm is still being sort by police.

Det Insp Clare Devlin, of GMP’s Salford borough, said: “We believe this is linked to other recent violent incidents in Salford between two organised crime groups in Little Hulton.

“Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone in the area at the time or anyone with information to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver Peugeot driving around the area at the time.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9403 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
