Discount supermarket Lidl has recalled three 'potentially deadly' foods warning customers NOT to eat them.

They're recalling Bavarian Style Smoked Cheese with Ham, Bread Baking Mix and Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts because they contain wheat, rye, barley (gluten), milk or hazelnuts which are not mentioned in English on the label.

Anyone with an allergy or intolerance to one of the above allergens could have their health put at risk if they ate the products.

Last April the store recalled its own-brand tinned herring fillets - because their packaging does not warn shoppers they may contain FISH.

The German discount supermarket was selling the assorted flavoured herring pieces in 200g tins, under the brand Nixe.

But the tins' labels did not feature warnings that they contain potential allergens, including fish, milk, egg, mustard and gluten.

Lidl said Herring Fillets in a Tomato Sauce was withdrawn due to fish not being declared in English on its label, as required under Food Standards Agency (FSA) rules.

This is despite the product having a prominent Marine Stewardship Council logo.

The discounter's Herring Fillets in a Tomato and Red & Green Pepper Sauce, Herring Fillets in a Mustard Sauce and Herring Fillets in a Tomato & Pepper Sauce also failed to mention they may contain fish, milk, egg, wheat and mustard.

Lidl said: "If you have bought a product and have an allergy to fish, milk, mustard, egg or wheat do not eat it.

"Instead return it to a Lidl store for a full refund. Other green grocer products are not affected by this recall."

The FSA also warned anyone with an allergy to the ingredients not to eat them.

It said: "The above products may contain fish, milk, egg, mustard and wheat (gluten) which are not mentioned on the label in English.

"This means the products may be a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to the allergens listed above.

"If you have bought any of the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to any of the above allergens, please do not eat it.

"Instead return it to the store from where you bought it for a full refund."

All affected tins affected have a best before date of March 16, 2020.
