Police are carrying out a search of streets in Chorlton today in a bid to find a missing man who may be in need of urgent medical help.

Stephen Curran, 45, was last seen at his home address on Tuesday May 17. He had since been in contact with friends via Whatsapp but has not been heard from since May 22nd.

Stephen is described as a white man, approximately 6ft and of stocky build with blue eyes and short greying hair. He is originally from Belfast and speaks with an Northern Irish accent.

Prior to going missing, he had complained of pain in his lower body and was struggling to walk so he may be moving with a noticeable limp.

Police and Stephen’s friends are growing increasingly concerned about his whereabouts.

Rehman Ashraf, who witnessed the search, said: “I was sitting in the garden with my brother when we saw police running down the street. They were from a Tactical Aid Unit - about 12 of them from three vehicles. I couldn’t believe it.

“They were going from house to house, opening porch doors and gardens. They checked our garden and our shed. They said they were looking for a 45-year-old man who had gone missing from nearby. They seemed quite stressed. They said there was a welfare issue.”

Anybody with information about Stephen’s whereabouts should contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
