Investigations are continuing after a Kosher restaurant went up in flames following a suspected arson attack.

CCTV showed two men throwing fuel across the floor and fittings of the Ta’am Deli and Grill in Prestwich, Bury .

The owners said they believe the attack could be motivated by their Jewish heritage, although police say they have found no evidence that is the case.

The horrific footage captured a huge fireball erupting inside the Bury New Road restaurant as flames engulfed the interior on Friday night.

The deli was due to reopen on Monday after a move to new premises.

The blaze tore through the building, causing an explosion, with the deli quickly filling with smoke.

Amazingly the attack only caused ‘minimal’ damage.

Police say two men smashed a window to get into the deli between 10pm and 11pm on Friday.

Detective Inspector Jonathan Kelly, of GMP’s Bury division, said: “We are keeping an open mind on the possible motivation for this incident but there is no evidence to suggest that it was racially motivated.

"The offenders appear to have gone to great lengths to do what they did and the owners were extremely lucky that more damage was not caused.

"Enquiries are ongoing and we are trying to establish the movements of the two offenders before and after the incident.”
