The Super Bowl could soon be returning to the city where it started.

The NFL's 32 owners are scheduled to be in Charlotte on Monday for the league's annual spring meeting that runs through Wednesday.

One of the biggest items on the agenda at the meeting will involve voting on the host city for Super Bowls LIII (2019), LIV (2020) and LV (2021). Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay are vying to host the NFL's biggest game.

Due to scheduling conflicts at the SuperDome, New Orleans is only bidding on Super Bowl LIII, while L.A. is only in the running to host Super Bowl LIV or LV.

A league source recently told the Los Angeles Daily News that L.A. is 'absolutely' going to be awarded a Super Bowl when the owners vote on Tuesday. Los Angeles hosted the NFL's first Super Bowl back in January 1967, a game where the Packers beat the Chiefs 35-10.

To host a Super Bowl, a city will have to receive at least 24 votes from NFL owners. Besides L.A., Atlanta is also a frontrunner to host a game, thanks in large part to the new $1.5 billion stadium that the Falcons will be opening in 2017.

The Los Angeles area hasn't played host to a Super Bowl since January 1993, when the Cowboys beat the Bills 52-17 in Super Bowl XXVII. Overall, there have been seven Super Bowls in L.A. Five of those games were played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, while the other two, including Super Bowl I, were played at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

As for the other candidates, New Orleans hasn't hosted a Super Bowl since February 2013 (Super Bowl XLVII), Miami hasn't hosted since February 2010 (Super Bowl XLIV), Tampa Bay hasn't hosted since February 2009 (Super Bowl XLIII), and Atlanta hasn't hosted the NFL's biggest game since January 2000 (Super Bowl XXXIV).

The NFL has already set the location for the next two Super Bowls: Super Bowl LI will be played in Houston in February 2017. The Vikings' new stadium in Minnesota will host Super Bowl LII in February 2018. That stadium is scheduled to open this season.
