Chocolate Shortage May Be On the Way, Candy Maker Says

According to international candy-making giant Barry Callebaut, the world could be running out of chocolate. The company's 2014 annual report cited "a potential cocoa shortage by 2020," if current farming methods don't get an upgrade, industry pros say. Due to China owning 20-40 percent of the world's cocoa production and the Ebola scare that spiked prices15 percent, small farmers are staying away from the market. Although, a significant shortage may be a while away, as an immediate affect, consumers may be seeing a higher price for chocolate in grocery stores.
