Philippine presidential hopefuls talk death penalty, taxes

Presidential front-runner Sen. Grace Poe courted supporters with talk of restoring the death penalty.

CEBU CITY, Philippines -- Those aspiring to succeed President Benigno Aquino in the May 9 election homed in on crime and corruption on Sunday, with calls ranging from greater access to government information to reviving capital punishment.

     The second presidential election debate was sponsored by the national election commission and TV5, an independent broadcaster. The four candidates on stage all promised to be tough on corruption.
