Senior Wellness Event: 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Hamilton Council on Aging, 299 Bay Road, Hamilton. The Hamilton Council on Aging in conjunction with Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Beverly, Boston Center for Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine in Hamilton and the Hamilton Fire and Police Departments will present a Wellness Event for seniors age 60 and older. Massachusetts Secretary of Elder Affairs Alice Bonner, Sen. Bruce Tarr and Rep. Brad Hill will be present at the included lunch. The event will also feature a dancing contest, prizes and more. Unitarian Universalist UN Office Executive Director Bruce Knotts will discuss the challenges the UN faces on climate changes and other issues. Knotts has led the UU-UNO since 2008. “Incarceration, Time Served, Now What?”: 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., North Shore Community College, 1 Ferncroft Road, Danvers. NSCC will host its 35th Forum on Tolerance, “Incarceration, Time Served, Now What?” A second session is set for 6:15-8:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Lynn Campus gym, 300 Broad St. The forum will focus on community, the criminal justice system and understanding and healing for those reentering the community after a conviction. The Danvers event topic, “When the Punishment Doesn’t Fit the Crime: Drug-Related Offenses and Mass Incarceration,” will feature keynote speakers, NSCC professor Steven Chisholm and author and activist Sarah Lovell. The Lynn event, “Now What? Faces of Healing After Incarceration,” will be led by motivational speaker and NSCC student Ruben Holguin. Following Holguin will be a panel discussion, “Second Chances for Criminal Offenders: History, Reforms and Rehabilitation Programs,” with NSCC criminal justice faculty member Gina Curcio and UMass-Dartmouth professor Robert Waxler. “The Clean House”: 7:30 p.m., Walter J. Manninen Center for the Art, Tia’s Theater, Endicott College, 376 Hale St., Beverly. In Pulitzer Prize-winner Sarah Ruhl’s play about love, loss, transformation and transcendence, a serious doctor hires a quirky Brazilian maid who hates to clean and longs to be a comedienne, showing that beauty and humor can be found in life’s most unlikely messes. Hope and Healing with Peers eight-week “Loss of Spouse/Partner” peer-led support group: 10-11:30 a.m. through Nov. 4, the Solimine Community Center, 583 Chestnut St., Lynn. The groups will be facilitated by “peers” who have gone through extensive training and who have also experienced the same loss, allowing those who wish to continue to work through their grief an opportunity to learn to adjust.
