Volunteers sought for district’s strategic planning committees

ILION — Time is running out to volunteer for the Central Valley school district’s strategic planning committees.

“This is anyone’s chance to play a role in setting the course for the district,” said Superintendent Richard Hughes in a post on the district’s website.

“Without community and staff input, those decisions will be made by the board of education and myself. People must be ready step up or ready to accept someone else’s decisions,” he added.

The Central Valley Board of Education is seeking nominations for participants to serve on the district’s strategic planning teams for the 2016-17 school year. This community-wide effort will help reinvent the school district in order to provide students with an education that prepares them for today’s world and the challenges of tomorrow.

Outside facilitators will assist in developing a long-range district vision that establishes core values, shared purpose, strategic objectives and action plans. Participants will develop a plan draft in the fall, develop measurement tools beginning in December, create action plans starting in January and present a comprehensive strategic plan to the board of education on March 30, 2016.

“These decision affects all of our Thunder, so we are enlisting the participation of the entire school community,” said Hughes.

Community members may nominate themselves or others to serve on one of two committees — the strategic planning team or the strategic partners team. The nomination form and more information regarding the individual teams is included the strategic planning packet on the district’s website or by contacting the district office at 894-9934. Individuals can also submit by completing the strategic planning nomination form online.

Anyone selected must be committed to attend all meetings. Completed forms must be returned to the district office or email to Hughes at rhughes@cvalleycsd.org by Oct. 16.
