Sometimes, it's more than the duty. To save a life without caring for your own, is what this cop is made of.

A man -- Robert Moore -- was taking pictures of the police brutality demonstration and march as the massive crowd made its way around Downtown Dallas on Thursday night.

When initially a few shots rang out near Lamar and Main Street, Moore said that he ran for the shelter behind a car that was parked on the curb.

There were a few other civilians in the area along with Moore when some officers arrived on the ground zero and made sure that Moore and the civilians were rescued and out of the line of fire.

It was this time when he clicked several photos of an officer who stayed in front of him and protected him.

When it was time to try to leave, the police officer said, "I'm gonna stand up. You stand behind me, and we're gonna back out."

Moore also recalled, "He stood in front of me basically to shield me as we exited the area. How do you not thank somebody like that?"

"I don't know his name but I won't forget him."
Moore said this when he posted the photos of the officer who became his hero.

"I've never been in a situation where one of the people was serving me so directly and watching out for me," Moore said.

Moore said that he has found out the officer's name and wants to meet him to thank him in person.
