TRS promises `heaven' for Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi chose to promise something for everyone in the city as it ramps up its campaign for the GHMC elections. In its manifesto released on Saturday, the TRS was the first political party to unveil its plans for the city. The TRS also announced the lists of its candidates ahead of other parties in an attempt to send a message that it is a party with a plan in place unlike others who took their time in announcing their candidates and their manifestos.

The ruling party promised to transform Hyderabad into a world-class city with access to free wi-fi and uninterrupted power supply. The manifesto also makes a prominent mention of the promise of providing double-bedroom houses for the poor, reduction of pro perty tax from Rs 1,200 to Rs 100, abolition of road tax for autos, opening of 200 centres to serve a meal for Rs 5, waiver of water and power dues of poor and free accident insurance to 9.5 lakh auto and taxi drivers.
The TRS manifesto was released by Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, D Srinivas, advisor to the chief minister, and IT minister KT Rama Rao at the party headquarters.
“We have prepared a Hyderabadi plan for the election. We are presenting a comprehensive manifesto that finds solutions for every problem in the city.People from Andhra and Telangana are like brothers and we fulfilled our promise to ensure safety of all sections of people during our 18 months rule,“ said Rama Rao.
The manifesto also promised completion of construction of the 158-km long outer ring road, laying of a 42-km long four-lane road along the Musi river, modernization of 3,500-km long sewerage lines, revival of Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs to ensure water supply to the city, beautification and modernization of Musi, setting up of 200 model markets to reduce pressure on the existing markets, establishing cycling tracks and single-window clea rances for all real estate projects.

“Nothing has been left for other political parties to promise as our manifesto presents a clear road map to resolve all important issues,“ said Kesava Rao.
The party leaders said that in addition, their government already kept its promise to start-ups and entrepreneurs by offering T-Hub, the Telangana Aca demy of Skill and Knowledge Development Center, reasonable power tariff and uninterrupted power supply, quick permissions for new industries and job opportunities to all sections.
The manifesto also discusses the traffic related problems in the city and promises to solve these in next three years by developing new roads and improving the existing ones.
