Barça's squad is worth two times as much as Atletico's, but it counts for little on the pitch

The duels between the best teams, those filled with stars and talent, such as this Wednesday's Copa del Rey quarter-final between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, are often decided by the smallest of details.

In fact, even though Barça ended the negative dynamic with a win against Atleti recently, it was only last season when they couldn't beat Diego Simeone's side at all.

In six meetings, there were five draws and one with for the Rojiblancos, which resulted in them progressing in the Champions League. They also won the league on the final day of the season at Camp Nou.

Both teams have changed since then, especially Barça under Luis Enrique. Luis Suarez has come in for Alexis Sanchez and Claudio Bravo, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Jeremy Mathieu and Ivan Rakitic have also arrived.

As for Atleti, they have new goalkeepers (Miguel Angel Moya and Jan Oblak instead of Thibaut Courtois), but are most changed up front. Antoine GriezmannMario Mandzukic and Fernando Torres have compensated for the losses of Diego Costa and David Villa.

TALENT AGAINST MARKET VALUE

Atletico's team -- champions of la Liga, runners-up in the champions League and Spanish Supercopa winners -- has a market value (Source: Transfermarkt) of €301 million

Koke (€40m), Arda Turan (€30m) and Griezmann (€30m) are the three players with the highest prices.

Barça, meanwhile, who have undergone many changes in search of more titles, have a squad of players worth €620m. Their three stars valued at €70m (Lionel Messi), €60m (Neymar) and €60m (Luis Suarez).

These details may be important for agents and off-pitch dealings, but they have less worth on the pitch.

An example of this came in the previous round of the Copa del Rey. Real Madrid, who have the most expensive squad at the moment, were knocked out by Atletico after a 4-2 defeat on aggregate.
