Biochemist Dr. Dena Minning has broken her month long silence over the last 24 hours with a pair of emails aimed at slowly rolling out her platform, and filling the campaign warchest for one of the most high profile congressional primaries in the nation.

Yesterday, Minning asked if there “was a doctor in the House” in a message celebrating the recent 50th anniversary of Medicare and voicing her support for the Affordable Care Act. She also pledged to fight any further attempts Republicans might make defunding the legislation, better known as “Obamacare.”

This morning, in a message titled “Ain’t too proud to beg,” Minning’s twin Maltese puppies Bowen and Bynum ask supporters to make campaign contributions citing song lyrics from the classic “Temptations” song.

Minning, who has romantic ties to the 9th Congressional District incumbent Alan Grayson, has slowly started introducing herself to the rank and file in the Democratic party, reportedly making recent appearances at the state Democratic Women’s Convention, and the Planned Parenthood Gala in Central Florida. She still has not done any media interviews.

She’s running against her boyfriend’s former congressional district director Susannah Randolph, state Sen. Darren Soto, former State Rep. Ricardo Rangel and businesswoman Valleri Crabtree.

Republican Businessman Wayne Liebnitzsky is currently the only member of his party that has filed to run.

The left-leaning 9th Congressional District consists of parts of Orange, Osceola, and Polk counties.
