A Lauderhill woman drove an SUV through the glass facade of a Subway shop in Plantation Monday — and didn’t stop until the truck was all the way inside the store, Plantation police said.

“There were no injuries to any employees or customers,” Detective Robert Rettig said about the crash that happened about 10:39 a.m. at the West Broward Shopping Center, at the northeast corner of West Broward Boulevard and State Road 7. “The driver did sustain minor injuries.”

Saima Milord, 19, of Lauderhill, was in a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder SUV and was traveling north on State Road 7 before the crash, Rettig said.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons and it drove over a hedgerow, struck a parked vehicle in the parking lot and continued to travel over a sidewalk and into the restaurant,” Rettig said.

Retting said Milford will be cited for violating state law because she has a restricted license.

“A restricted driver’s license means she cannot legally drive a motor vehicle in the state of Florida unless she has a licensed driver over the age of 18 in the front passenger seat with her,” Rettig said. “She was driving alone.”

Milord may face additional charges after the investigation is completed, the detective said.
