Carter Jr. had 10 points and 14 rebounds.• With a win over Northwestern Tuesday, Maryland has started its tenure as a member of the Big Ten Conference with a 20-5 record, including a perfect 13-0 mark in the friendly confines of the XFINITY Center. The Terps won their first-ever game as a member of the Big Ten in an overtime thriller at Michigan State, 68-66, on Dec. 30, 2014 in East Lansing. • Freshman Diamond Stone has scored in double figures in 12 consecutive games and 14 of his past 15 contests. The Milwaukee, Wisc., native leads the Terps in scoring in conference play, averaging 17.6 points per game with a .650 field goal percentage. He has a team-high three double-doubles in league play. • With six assists against Northwestern on Tuesday, Melo Trimble surpassed his season total for assists from a year ago (109). Trimble posted 106 as a rookie in 2014-15. He is averaging 5.5 per game as a sophomore and has dished 10 or more assists on two occasions this season. The Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year notched a career-high 12 dimes at North Carolina on Dec. 1. • The Terps (17-2) are ranked seventh in the Associated Press and fifth in the USA Today Top 25 after splitting with Michigan and Ohio State last week. Maryland has been ranked in the AP Top 25 for 27 straight weeks.
