CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cuyahoga Community College has joined a national project to help students choose an academic program and the courses they need to succeed and graduate.

Tri-C , Columbus State Community College and Zane State College in Ohio are among 30 two-year colleges selected to participate in the Pathways Project, led by the American Association of Community Colleges.

The project is funded through a $5.2 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Over the next two years, the colleges will take part in six two-day institutes to determine how to develop and implement a pathway for student success and college completion. Strategies will be shared among all community colleges.

"Cuyahoga Community College is committed to student success and completion as outlined in our strategic plan,"  Lisa Williams, vice president of learning and engagement, said in a release. "We are thrilled to be part of this national initiative."

The colleges were chosen following a competitive national selection process. The Pathways colleges are in urban, suburban and rural locations in 17 states.

The AACC is coordinating the national partnership.
